I was looking at the honda today nice quad my ride now is the 400 cat IRS wich I do not like because of the bodyroll and it steers and handles like a tank even in 2 wheel drive....How are the 500 honda's on gas(I get about 100miles to a tank 4.9gallons with the cat) and how do they handle in 2 wheeldrive? What is the diffrance between the 500 foreman and 500 rubicon? Any info would be great thanx..

my Rubicon gets better mileage than my 98 AC 400, but it was was liquid cooled while your's has the 375 air cooled engine so it may not compare exactly. Its also better than my friend's 500i. Most of our longer rides are 80 miles and I still have reserve. The 05s and up should do 100 miles safely with the bigger tank.
you will miss the GC when it comes to clearing stuff on the trail, but the lower ATV will handle better on smooth trails and be much more comfortable on off-cambers. you won't miss the mud all over you!
2wd must be nice, rather have it, but I bought the 04 for 5579otd just before the 05s were due with the traxlock.
Rubicon tranny is nice, no clunking when you shift. Plus fully auto so my wife can take it for her 5 minute ride once in a while.

The new forman is a real nice bike, solid rear end, and handles like its on rails. I dont find my 450 bad for hitting trail obstacles, I also have 27" tires which are getting me at least another inch of ground clearance.
One nice thing about solid rear as opposed to IRS is that although its always lower, its always consistant and clearane does not decrease through suspension compression or when carying a load, which makes the solid rear real easy to get used to on the trail. Nothing worse them the suspension compressing and dropping the differentil right on a rock.
The new forman also has disk brakes on the front that every one says you need these days, and the updated styling is a welcome addition.

Well I went to the dealer today and tryed the 500 foreman(manual shift) and was very impressed it is the quad I've been looking for handles great and tons of pull the ride is much better than the older models...So it had to come home with me....my budy made me an offer on the cat that I couldn't refuse so I let her go......I think I made the right chose...
