Clearance???
I bought a new Rubicon in Nov of 04' and after spending to summer on it I have concluded a few changes I would like to make, however I cant find the answers. Hoping to find some input here. I am a bigger guy and would like to be able to adjust the front and rear shock to change some hieght and load ranges, does anyone know of a good after market answer to this. Also I have thought about putting some 27 inch tires on to gain a little clearance, I know this will make it more top heavy, but is it worth the cost. Also the person I ride with has a Polaris 700 EFI and when it comes to climbing hills, he just puts his thumb into it and he is gone, I have climbed a few hill he has, and noticed that the ruby does not fly all that fast and seems to want to crawl in order to maintain rpm's. Any suggestions as to what gear and tranny setting is best to use for all around hill climbing? And on other question, when you pull the rear brake shouldnt the tail light get brighter indicating that I am stopping to the person behind me. I f there are any other cool after market product for this machine that you would recomend please let me know. I do have the 424 select and love it. Thank yo for your time.

Clearance???
The 27s will give you more clearance, but not that much. But the trade off is slower top end, and less power to the ground . Itll struggle even more on the hills than it did before. You might be asking for more than the rubi can deliver. It wasnt meant to be a trail flier, its more of an utility, than a sporty. Ever notice how the motor isnt real quick to rev, ...the heavy flywheel makes the motor much smoother and allows it to run at lower rpm and still make torque.
The honda utes are kind of low, slow and very stiffly sprung...hey i got one, its ok for me to say it. I love the fact, that i dont need to worry about a breakdown, and itll go anywhere, except thru the deep ruts....but it wont go there fast. While everyone else is spinning the tires, and bumping off the red line, my honda just plugs along at barely over an idle, and gets thru just fine. Think of them as being more of a tractor than a race car.
I think if you want to fly up the hills...youre gonna need to trade it off, and get something else.
