Default 06 Rincon???

Yeah and that same guy that wrote the atvscence review is in a thread on Highlifter now and can't decide to buy the 05 or the 06 model Rincon for 1,000$ difference. Now after all I said even I would myself take the 06 over the 05 if I were buying a new machine. Even at a 1k differrence. If I had wrote that article no way would I buy an 05. I couldn't tell much about engine braking in the parking lot. I was really testing the speed. I thought it was more refined, handled a little better and didn't stall as easily. I did manage to get it to quit twice by nailing the throttle very quickly from a dead stop. The biggest improvment in my eyes was the easy steering. It was like power steering on the asphalt.

Default 06 Rincon???

I am not sure a 7% increase in power would be felt in the seat of the pants.But lets say it made 30hp at the wheels in 05 then it now is making over 32.That is not much in a car but I can tell you from racing karts thats huge.I would never consider a Rincon if I wanted something to run with the Prairies and such but if I wanted something with enough power and a good handling IRS then it would rank high I suppose.I know EFI would be nice.At deer camp this year the guys that don't ride but have to maybe bring the quad out sometimes struggle with the carbed quads.Of course it's a no brainer for the guy or guys who own them.With an EFI machine hopefully anyone can start it .Just my .02

Default 06 Rincon???

I have only ridden a Rincon around in some gravel so I have almost no experience with it. From what I have heard from other owners and magazine testers that I have talked to, they all say that in a straight line a Rincon will lose to the other big bores. I dont ride in a straight line. I ride in tight twisted trails and they all say that that is where a Rincon takes over. Even then I am not into the racing. I just dont want to be left behind. I also want a comfortable ride that wont tire me out or leave me sore after hours of riding. I will be getting the 06 Rinny.

kodiak 1...The Rincon has a manual shift mode (really fun to play with by the way). It's advised to use it when climbing or descending hills. It won't shift in this mode unless the rider does it. As far as I know, the engine braking in the new model is pretty much the same. In first gear, it kicks in at 8MPH on a properly adjust machine. Below that speed, brakes are the only thing that'll slow you down.

I am aware of the manual shift mode but I was just curious what guys used when going up long steep climbs.

Atvboy1;
It sounds like your Rincon could use some fine tuning adjustments. It shouldn't be stalling, or under power'd for climbing. I bought two of them in 03, and one was always faster than the other, and quicker off the line too. After just a few adjustments I picked up on the rincon owners forum, it got much better. I'll admit, even running perfectly it will not out top end the King Quad, Brute Force, or the Outlander. But it will crawl right straight up till it flips right over backwards and do it just as slowly as you want with no problem. When you start turning corners at speed, you won't have ANY problem staying with the others, and you will be comfortable doing it. If the front end dives too much for you, get the highlifter springs for the front end. I have heard they make a world of difference, and a lot of guys have put them on the front only so you don't have to buy both front and rear if you don't want.

Make sure you don't have the O-ring problem with your tranny. It will act funny, and is easy to fix. Get rid of those jokes they call tires, and you won't believe the improvement.

I am the "guy" who wrote the article on the 2006 Rincon at ATV Scene. I assure you I don't work for Honda. It's all legit info. If you haven't done so, check the article out. We just put a Q & A section up. I'll answer any questions you have there.
