Default ROUGH SHIFTING ON MY RANCHER

i am having some wierd things going on with my 03 rancher es. it is shifting real hard. it kinda feels like its gonna trow ya when you push the button. i was reading on the forum about adjusting the clutch once in a while. my rancher has 1200 miles on it. should i adjust the clutch? i havent had any blinking numbers and the es shifts, it just shifts darn hard.
thanks in advance

Definetly adjust the clutch. I'll have to double check the service manual but I think the recommended service interval on clutch adjustment is every 600 miles, same as the oil change interval.

Sorry, forgot to add that even a clutch that is WAY out of adjustment will not throw an ECM code.

how does it work now?

My rancher shifts a little harsh at first like the first shift i do when i go out for a ride, then it's fine, i think it's because the clutch has to whip around in the oil for a bit to get lubricated to give you that smooth engagement.

but anyways, it's a good idea to crack out the tool kit and adjust it each weekend you go out or whatever. It's easier on the transmission and clutch parts.

check your idle speed too, if its too high it will really slam when first going into gear
