RECOIL STARTER ROPE SNAPPED
#1
How hard it it to get into the recoil starter on a 2001 honda rancher 4x4 manual shift. I broke the rope today. I went out riding and it was 8 degrees. Hard time starting. I grabbed the pull rope it was stiff. Well pulled it and the rope snapped. Put silcone in the hole to seal it in the mean time. The manual says onle to use it when battery is dead but I thought since it was cold it might help. The primer **** was really stiff. I would almost say there was a little water in the bowl so that caused it to freeze. Not to metion my starter button was stiff from last washing. My building is a little cold at night as you can tell. Any help please

I have never had the rope break on any of our hondas, but the recon rope will not recoil back into the unit very easy, you have to ride a while then when your not looking it sucks back in, I guess it needs cleaning and lubed. You should get a clymer manual for your particular machine, it has everything in it. I just did the rear brakes and valve lash adjustment on the recon , the clymer assures you a job done correctly if you follow directions, and that is very important because ,for every action there will be a negative reaction if done incorrectly. You probably just have to replace the rope with the correct size , it might get a little springy, good luck.
