I read in this forum that owners of 4x4 Ranchers are seeing top speeds of 50-52 mph. Yesterday I got mine up to 48, max., and it took awhile to get there. Not that top end speed is important to me, but it looks like I'm off about 2 to 4 mph. Is this an indication of a problem with something, a setting, an adjustment????????
The bike is pure stock, with only 256 miles on it.
Informative responses only, please.

THANKS!

you're still about 3 mph ahead of me; but I am a large man, that may have something to do with it.

Mine is a 2000 4X2, which is a little lighter, and has less drag in the drivetrain, but mine runs 52mph on hardpack. I weigh 167 lbs.

Top speed so far has been 50 mph not bad considering my weight is over 220. The Rancher will get up to 44 or so fairly fast, it just takes a while to wind up to 50.

I have had mine up to 51 on a half mile dirt road straight away same with my cousins. Where do you live elevation wise? that might have something to do with it. also i have read that there can be a difference of speeds among the same bike usually up to a couple mph. I don't know why thats just the way it is.

Mine has hit 52mph on a frozen lake, with a stiff tail wind. The only differance I noticed after it was broken in, was that it would get up to speed quicker, but with no change in top speed.(Rev limiter)

Mine will get up to about 50 . The motor runs a little lean. I gave my idle mixture a quarter turn in and it seemed to help acceleration.

i've had mine to 54 on payvment....clicked over to 55 for a nanosecond...so that didn't count. Don't care if it ever goes that fast again. I'll save the top speed runs for the Suzuki 400 when it comes out
