recon going trough mud
#162
forget it dude, it's just a dumb idea to begin with. When you have the money just get a faster quad, there's no logic behind modifying a recon to perform like a sport quad when you can buy a sport quad for much less than it would cost to modify the recon.

I know, its just I am already getting bored with its performance! I just got it about 4 months ago and my dad says there is know way in hell i am going to get a new quad inless i get it with my own money. I know that you said that blasters are high matince but the new ones are they any diffrent? Also how bout a mojave? I founfdone for 1800?Or should i just switch over to dirt bikes?Time to start saving I guess. Hey go to www.dirty4man.com there is some cool pics and videos there.

I'd take a mojave over a blaster any day, even though they're slower. The newer blasters are a little different than the original ones, but really the only improvements were the brakes (and the @ss-ugly fenders). They're still a 2-stroke, which means there's no way to get around high maintainance. Also, neither of these you picked have electric start or reverse. You don't realize how nice electric start and reverse is until you have to kick start a quad when you're already sore from a hard day of riding, or when you have to push a 350 lb quad up a hill by yourself.
If hillclimbs are important to you i'd have to still suggest that you shoot for a warrior, you should be able to find one for around $2200 that's in decent shape and has been well maintained.

Hey,how about a 300ex? I just saw one go by my house flying down the road probally around 65mph! How much did you pay for your warrior,If you dont mind me asking? Also should i get the new 350raptor or a warrior?
Also could you email me the video of that one hill that only you and aguy on a 440ex and 2 450r's made it up?

I don't have the video of the hillclimb on my computer, and I don't really have a way to digitize it anymore.
A 300ex would be a good pick for you too, i'd say either a 300ex or warrior is your best option. The warrior is a little faster, but not by much. I paid 2800 for mine from a powersports shop, but buying one through a private sale it would probably have been about 2300-ish.

The warrior and 300ex are 2 of the most reliable quads out there, but I think the warrior is a little more reliable. Either of these will last forever when taken care of properly.
In acceleration they are almost dead even, but the warrior is about 8 mph faster stock vs stock.
You still might like the 300 better though, it's smaller and lighter than the warrior.

A warrior will be better for hill climbs because they have a lot of weight in the front end and gobs of torque.
It's a toss-up in mudding, with 2 wheel drive it has more to do with the rider's skill and the tires than it does the machine. The warrior has a little more ground clearance, but the 300ex is lighter and will be easier to throw around and get traction.
