recon going trough mud

doesnt a 400ex have alot of power? How much was your recon worth when you traded it inif you dont mind me asking? I am not planing on getting a new quad right now maybe in about year or two so that leaves me with alot of time to save up I ride mostly trails that are wet, dry, muddy with steep hills.

You might be able to find a 400ex or rappy 350 for around that, most of them I see are right around $3000 or more.
I didn't even think about a wolverine for you, that would probably be a great choice! Throw a 424 select on there, and you will be able to ride it like a sport quad in 2wd, then throw it in 4 wheel for mud, snow, and hillclimbs.

have you heard anything about a kymco mongoose 300 or 250? would those be good for me also go to www.diamondjcustoms.com because they have a 6 inch widening kit for a 250ex and i wanted to know if that would fit my recon? Also would the recon look stupid if i took the racks and front plastic off?

geez, gimme some time to respond!
Kymoco mainly makes kid's quads, it's really not good quality stuff, just cheap taiwanese things. Their 300 wouldn't even compare to the recon.
The widening kit would work on the recon, but I don't like those kits. They really screw up the suspension geometry, and the mounts aren't very strong, so there's a safety hazard involved too. Just leave the recon as-is except for tires and maybe exhaust, then save up for a sport quad when you're ready.
I had the rack and fenders off the front of my recon when my brother wrecked it, and it looked like crap. Just leave them on, without them it looks trashy, and you get lots of mud in your face without any fenders.

Sorry,i just got a little impateint.sorry again. I know I should just leave the recon alone but would I be able to cut the fenders in to a race type f style.Ihope I am not getting on your nerves. My dad says that if i changed the gear ratios around i could either get better top end or better off the line.Is this true?
Also there is this one feild that all my freinds go riding in but its on private property and my dad does not want me to go down there but the trails are awsome from what my freinds tell me.should i go?

Cutting the fenders on a utility quad looks stupid, and it'll reduce the resale value because nobody wants a utility quad with cut fenders.
Yes, your dad is right that if you changed your gear ratios you could get more acceleration or top speed. What he doesn't know is that there's no way to change the recon's gearing.
In my 21 years I have some experience with following your parents' instructions, you can either try to learn from my mistakes and experience, or do whatever you think is best. I know it's kinda lengthy and preachy, but I hope you at least consider my suggestion, take it for what it's worth:
If your parents tell you not to go then listen to them man, even if there isn't a physical or legal risk of riding there your parents will still find out you rode there eventually, and no good can come of that. At first my parents didn't like me leaving our own property, but I convinced them that I had permission to ride there, and that since I was riding with people that know the trails that I would be safe. My suggestion is to wait until your parents give you permission. If you can prove that you're responsible enough to ride there, and keep remiding them about it your parents will probably allow you to go riding there eventually. On the other hand, if you break their rules it's going to suck for you in the long run, they could draw a conclusion that since you disobeyed them that they can't trust you, and they'll end up supervising and limiting you more instead of trusting you and allowing to go out riding with your buddies.
