carb spring
#11
hey Rinman, are you sure a dynojet kit comes with a softer spring?? I looked up one for my rancher and all it shows in the parts list is the jets and needle. no spring. Is this something they changed recently?
I will be adding an aftermarket pipe soon for some extra power, and I was thinking of using oem jets but if a dynojet kit comes with a spring i might do that instead

I doubt it will shoot out. But if you pull it off fast then yes. Its about 10 inches long. But it is a thin spring so you should survive it if it flys. Yes its the silver thing under the seat. As far as the dyno jet kit goes, mine came with a softer spring. But that was for the Rincon. I only used the spring and needle from the kit and used Kiehin jets from jetsrus. The dynocrap jets give mixed results.

just took out six of the springs.and you can tell a small difference(i can get it about halfway up in first, which all it use to do is raise up an inche or two), not bad for a five minuite mod. might be able to take a little more slack out im not for sure, dont want too much out. thanks for info rinman

Glad you liked it. It is a nice simple mod that anyone can do. I'm surprised more people don't know about it. Everybody is always a little scared at first. I guess its the fact that your cutting something thats been engineered off your machine. But as you've just said it did make an improvement. I cut 11 coils off mine. But if your happy with 6. Leave it alone and enjoy.

Taking too many out will cause it to bog and will also cause unwanted throttle. The ring helps the diaphram close. Thats why 10-11 coils is the magic number. Not sure how the rancher carb is. Is it just a cable slide or vacuum actuated? If it is cable actuated it will not make much difference if any at all.
