honenstly, im impressed by the upgrades. All i really expected was front disk brakes and maybe traxloc. This atv will be a big seller and i and impressed. I wouldnt mind having one to tell ya the truth.

Me neither. All this talk about weight.. i mean 600lbs is not that much for a nice 420cc EFI equiped quad. ITS NOT THAT MUCH. I think it will still be the best selling ATV out there, if not Honda's best seller as the 350 was.. I'm also very impressed with what Honda did. They showed a little guts by putting the Rancher420 out there and hopefully we'll see some more gutsy moves by Honda in the near future... Lets hope. And also, i was THIS cose to buying an '06 Foreman 500 ES.. but now i see that the '07 500 ES have EPS (Power Steering) so now im waiting to get an '07... Im very excited i waited.. and thankyou Honda.

yes, i think that 420 will smack the foreman 500 into the ground.... It was a good decision, in my opinion, for honda to make this year the year for the former Rancher 350. It's been the same quad for 5 or 6 years other than the plastic and a few minor changes. It has been their best selling utility quad, about time they stepped up. I had a feeling this year would be the year for this quad.

Honda may be reacting to the market of the future............
What made the Rancher 350 great was that it was just a simple, basic, no frills, entry level machine at a pretty reasonable price. Handling is good and it's not a huge pig, but not a kids toy either.
But, the market is going to soon reach SATURATION. That means that everyone who wants an ATV, already owns one. Thus, the market shifts from new FIRST TIME BUYERS, to TRADE-UP BUYERS looking for a machine with more performance and features.
This means that there will be a flood of USED entry level machines on the market, that will cut into NEW entry level machine sales. So, the new emerging market becomes HIGHER PERFORMANCE MACHINES. Not many folks actually need a huge heavy monster work utility, so the new Rancher fits a nice new market niche for an intermediate performance machine..........

I would say we have already reached a saturation in the market. Just in the last 2 years the used market has been flooded with all the 0% financing deals people see and then get rid of.

So what you are saying is that honda got rid of an entry level 350 because of an onslaught of used quads hurting it's sales.....and opted for a mid sized market with the new "420"....sound like a lame excuse to me.....
Why not go after the big boys and beat them at their own game by releasing a quad that people are screaming for.....or maybe they are just deaf

The other manufacturers already have their own offerings in the "intermediate" size niche, so I think Honda is counting on brand loyal Honda owners, to fuel the trade-up market for the new Rancher. The one plus I see for myself, is the EFI, because all my ute riding is done exclusively at high altitude. On the other hand, can an EFI 700 Rhino be to far off????
What is the price of the new Rancher???? (I tired to open the price list, but it didn't work.) Stands to reason that it is going to be a fair bit more than the 350 (so that bumps the new Rancher into a different class, with different competition).
