Ok, I know that this is a ATV page but I couldn't find a good motorcycle page so could you please help me??Well I was wondering if you think a 2001 Honda XR400R would be a good off Road bike? What have you heard about it? Have you ever ridden one? How did you like? Did the XR400R have alot of power? And how does the Honda XR250R compare to the XR400R? One Last thing how much did you pay for your XR400R or if you haven't bought do you know a friend that has and what did he pay for it? I was wondering when you say like you payed $5,299 OUT THE DOOR if OUT THE DOOR Means like paying for the Motorcycle all at once or does that count for Paying by the Month as well? Does anyone live in Charlotte North Carolina and Go to Charlotte Honda Yamaha of Charlotte? Any input would really help. Thanks Matt

P.S. Sorry for the long message but I wanted to get it all there.

I've never ridden any of the XR models, however I have ridden with some who did own them , notably the 200 series which would include the 250, and the 400 series.Any of the 200 series bikes are suitable for moderate trail riding where their suspensions aren't subjected to serious jumps or whoop sections. The forks are, in my opinion, on the wimpy side and tend to blow their seals in aggressive riding over the above terrain. The 400 to 600 series, with their somewhat larger diameter forks, are better suited to more agressive riders with the 600 series adequate for all but the most serious XC or enduro use.
"Out the door" price generally means the cash price. Finance charges can't be included in this figure due to the variations in credit history, down payment, & length of contract, which add considerably to the actual price of the product

When you hear them say "out the door" it refers to the price you pay after all the bull!@$#@ dealer charges and taxes have been added on. For example if your looking at a bike that it 5000.00 (depending on the dealer) may have anywhere from $300 to $1000 worth of taxes, freight, delivery, and etc. When you talk to a dealer make it very clear you are wanting to know the "out the door" price; it's the only way to compare the dealers. As for Charlotte Honda, my dad got his Valkerie from them for a good price. I got my quad from Performance Honda at a good deal. But for the best deal, it would be worth your time to drive to Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe. Hope that helps!! Sorry I couldn't help you out w/ the dirtbike issue. Matt J.

Size does matter, but not in the way you are thinking. The 250 is much more agile and manuverable. The 400 is a little larger and heavier (not very much though). With the proper mods (pipe, jets, uni filter) the 250 has a ton of power. My vote would be the 250 and I dont think you will be sorry.
