Hey everyone. I just ordered a new venom winch for my rancher. I have never owned a winch before so I need some help. I have read around on here and have learned to add grease to the winch before I install it. I also read that when using the winch to use a jacket or something in case the cable breaks. But I was wondering when using the winch and there isn't another atv around, what is the best way to use the winch by using a tree. I read that it isn't good to wrap the cable around the tree. I also was wondering on changing the cable to a synthetic rope. Is that easy to do? Any other tips on installing the winch or using it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

Only thing I can tell you about is the tree. Find something to protect the tree, a piece of rubber hose such as a garden hose would work. Keep your winch clean, spray wd-40 on your winch cable after you clean it up.

Me of course, I have never cleaned my winch, so I'm probably just asking for trouble..

 

yeh i have a short tow strap or tree saver as some people call it and it has 2 loops on the end you can just attach the winch cable directley to it or anything else u want to such as ****** blocks or whatever you might need and warn.com sells a complete winch acsesory set that is what i have and it works great just about everything u would need comes with it
