Default Warn 4-2-4/Rubicon

Hey, I was wondering what you guys have heard about the 424 switch on a Rubicon('01). Seems that everyone I know who has put it on their Rubicon starts tearing their transmission out. At least five that I know of. I really want to put one on but...... These guys are hard on them also and might just be a coincident but what are your thoughts? Thanx

I have a 424 Warn Select on my 350cc Fourtrax and have not had a problem with mine. I ride fairly aggresively. I have not heard of any such problems.

My brother-in-law has a 2001 Rubicon tore down now because of tranny problems and his atv does not have a 4-2-4 on it.

Thanks for your answer. But I'm thinking the problem lies with the Rubicon Hondamatic Tranny. It is alot different than yours for better or worse. I've had it for along time with no problems(I'm knockin' on wood right now). I really want to install the 424 but.....
THANKS

The 424 is one of the best mods I have ever done to my 01 Rubi. Still runs great after 5000 miles. Get one you will love it!

I can't imagine how it could hurt the transmission. All it does is disconnect the front end.

You're correct in that it replaces the shaft to the front differential. It has no bearing on what the actual transmission does. The only risk is switching it in and out of 4wd WITHOUT the front wheels turning and with the back wheels moving. That's when you'll get into trouble.

It's been a great investment for me. Definitely makes the atv feel sportier.
