I have a 2002 400ex with full yoshimura exhaust, k&n filter(closed box), and aftermarket cdi box. My friend just picked up a 660 raptor with a slip on pipe. What minimal work will it take to hang with the 660?

 

Open the air box and then jet accordingly. It will take some money to beat it in a flat drag race, but get it breatheing and it will be close riding.

 

Agreed it will take some work to compete, but if it was an early year 660 most likely the tranny will go during the race[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]...If you are a better rider and you do a few mods you should be able to take him unless it is a long drag.

 

Ha, I heard they have weak trannys. His quad is an 02' like mine and is currently not running due to burned up clutch and blown second gear. Not his fault though, it was purchased this way. We'll see, I'll pick up a jet kit and maybe bbk next year. Thanks for your help everyone!

 

ahh dude i had just a slip on on my 04 400ex and i ran a fully piped raptor a banshee and a trx450 in a creek bed, i beat all of them. the banshee was on and off though. it just comes down to how you ride. now i have full system, cam, new piston, and no lid. i will stomp them now. unless of course they can ride better than me.

 

Did they even pull off the line or did they break or something else go wrong?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]If you beat all of those quads then there was def something wrong unless they don't know how to ride and they were all stock.

 

no dude, we were all in a creek bed, running reg tires. we all spun but it was whoever got the jump and hookup. i guess im just pretty good at it. i know the raptor was tricked up and the rest were basically stock. but for a 400ex with a white bros slip on i must have been doing something right. and not to mention we raced quite a few times so if something was broke...they wouldnt have been able to continue.

I just got some info on my quad. I know all of the previous owners. I raced a bone stock 04' Z400 which are known to be pretty damn quick and my friend can ride. We were dead even every race. I have full yosh and k&n filter but I just found out that none of the three previous owners touched the carb. I'm gonna buy a jet kit, open up the lid and jet accordingly. Should wake her up without going to the extent of a cam or piston just yet. Maybe next year for those internal mods. You mopping up on all those quads sounds like you were just out riding those guys.
