Default Parts needed to do a 300cc kit on a honda 250r Atc??

I have to have my engine totally rebuilt. I was wondering while I am at it, if I could have a 300 kit put on. Doesn't that require boring out the cylinder and getting a bigger piston?? Is that all that is required?? Please post w/ any info. Thanks
Chris

I also believe that the stock jug will not accept a 300cc bore. There are (still) many companies that make 330's, 340's...even 370cc kits.

However, when you get in to the larger sizes, you may be looking at stroking it. That creates an entirely new set of things to deal with. Such as:

Will it require a spacer?

Will you need to machine the cases?

Will you need to change the carburetor?

Will it even fit the chassis?

Will you need to change the radiator?

Will you be able to keep it cool even with a different radiator?

The most important question you need to answer is whether you have the skills to handle a bigger motor. I have personally seen guys with 330's that were uncontrollable. What a colossal waste of money.

Yea I decided not to do it. My friend said it requires another 2 to 3 hundred dollars in parts and machining. He said I would need a bigger piston, a cylinder sleeve then bore the sleeve to the new piston size. Its kinda funny what people say when I tell them I bought a 3 wheeler. I had a 200X from age 14 to 20 and I sold it for money when I went to college. I remember keeping up w/ my dad on our road which is tar and chipped, and he was going around 50 to 55. I had a blast w/ it. Never dumped it or flipped it. I respected its limits and worked well for me. My coworkers are like your crazy they are dangerous!!! That is why they quite making them. I was like yeah they quite making them b/c every idiot in the US went out and bought one thought they could ride it and killed themselves. I appreciate the help. I have a friend and a friend of a friend that will do the engine work for 200 bucks compared to the 600 dollar quote I got from a local dealer. My friend that is willing to help me do it worked at a honda dealer, said I could probably do it myself, but I don't wanna take the chance of screwing it up even more.
