Rode the 07 Rancher ES 4x4 last night
Helped my Uncle pick out a quad for my Aunt and I was able to convince him to get the 07 Rancher (it'll be my next model when I'm ready to hand down one of my 05's). I love this size of Utility (Uncle has the Rincon, love the power, not the bulk), they are so easy to get around in. I was surprised at how easy it would register 40 mph, my 05's will do it fine, but I can tell I'm in to it quite a bit more to do that. The 420 sure feels responsive, and the added 2 or 4WD is great, no more running down a good deal on the 4-2-4.
To anyone that has one of the Camo models, how is the plastic/graphics holding up? Seems I recall the inital Rincon releases with the Camo plastics have a peeling issue. I'm a yellow ATV kind of guy, but I'd consider the Camo version just to have something different.

Spent the day out on my 05 Rancher, and the 07 Rancher was along, as well as a Rincon. The 07 Rancher runs circles around my 05. We were doing 40 and my cousin was just thumbing the throttle on the 07 making the front end lurch, and would then just run off, not walk, and leave me. Mid and upper RPM seemed to hang with the Rincon pretty good.
Only thing I noticed was back fire quite a bit (one big boom) from engine braking after sustained higher speeds.

The 420 should run circles around the rancher of old. The 420 being liquid cooled and fuel injected alone makes it stand out in HP when compared. Little surprising to me is that it would hang with the Rincon that well. Figured the Rinny would run away from it on top end. The backfiring has me wondering about valve adjustment on the 420. hmmmm, Stickey IAC ?

I bought a 07 Rancher 4x4 two weeks ago and rode it in the water, mud, trails, etc. I did notice that when I first rode it on pavement at higher speeds (4th and 5th gear), it would backfire after speeding back up when I slowed down to turn. Sometimes it would backfire while slowing down. This happened during my initial 2-4 hours of driving. I heard the backfire probably 8 or so times. After mudding, taking it in water, etc. I did not hear to backfiring when riding at high speeds without downshifting to slow down for a turn.
