Default Bought a 2005 TRX-450

I just got it last week and went riding this weekend ran it till it was almost empty. My only question is what kind of fuel is best for this machine? What makes for the best performance but still is safe for the engine? (Long Life)

It's a 2005 Kickstart TRX-450R Quad. Also why doesn't it have a nuetral light? Not that it isn't the biggest problem in the world but just curious.

92-93 octane, premium pump gas.
No battery, no neutral light. Neutral light not needed since it can be started in gear.

now what about 110 octane? My brother says all his friends who rise run it because of the higher compression on the racer quads

Your owner's manual says 91 octane. That is all that is available around here as pump gas. I like to hedge it just a little because detonation is devastating to this engine, so I add a bit of Klotz Octane Booser to get it up to 93. 110 is a waste, and may even be detremental to performance.

I don't know if you have been following the maintenance posts on this machine, but it needs very frequent oil changes! These engines tolerate a lot of compression blow by, so the oil gets rapidly contaminated with fuel and looses its viscosity.

Some good oil info: http://forums.atvconnection.co...id/21/threadid/520475

I run Maxima Extra ester synthetic oil in all my quads. Lots of folks think it is to expensive, but more fool them!

Also, do a valve adjustment ASAP. Who knows whether the previous owner was diligent at maintenance or not......
