2004 rancher 4X4 conversion questions....

I have a 2004 rancher that I just bought from my uncle. It is only two wheel drive, but someone told me that I can covert that model to 4X4. Is this true? Also, is there any website that has a free service manual to view?

This question has been asked before, and the consensus has been that buying the parts would cost you more than just getting a new quad!
