Default shift problem

I'm working on my neighbours 2000 trx350 electric shift, it runs OK but will not go in reverse. when you push the reverse button and squeeze the lever everything moves but it does not go. I have never worked on one of these so i'm kinda in the dark. any ideas would help

Sounds exactly like my problem i posted did you try the manual shifter. My manual shifter works putting mine in reverse and seemed like when id go thru water reverse would work again to. After i cleaned mine up i noticed i was missing somthing off front of my atv you might wanna look thru see if you have same issue.

mudgeek there has been alot of post's on the Honda's with the ES model's , and i think you're working on first year model that honda put on the ES transmission ; there has been a recall on the first year they came out up to the 2002's something to do with the angle senor ! You should find it on the Honda forum , just do a search on Honda TRX 350 ES trouble ; the local dealer tried to sell one to my brother in 2002 or 2004 and he had already been warned by some of his co worker's about their 2000 Honda TRX 350 Rancher ES giving them trouble ! But i saw it on a thread over a year ago about a recall on the 2002's ; it's on an old thread i just don't recall the date i last saw it ! Good luck finding it ! As long as i've been on the forums i still have been unable to do a search or even get a picture to post , so good luck ! .......
