honda or arctic cat
well im 14 and goin to get a four wheeler for christmas. my mom gave me a choice between a 07 honda foreman 4x4 brand new with new mudbugs or an arctic cat 400i with diff lock. the problem is that the foreman has no diff lock and only 7.5 ground clearance (not including tires) but the arctic cat has 12 inches of clearance and diff lock but doesent have tires. i live in louisiana and i have deep mud and water so which one should should i get?

If it were me than I would get the Honda. Here are my reasons: Honda's go and go and go. I have seen a Honda Rincon with 22,000 miles on it . The Honda will have way more power. The Honda is the very toughest ATV out there. Out here in the west where I live than other ATV's don't last very long. You can get larger wheels and tires for your Honda that will give it much better clearance.

That would lean my toward the Arctic Cat. Of course Reconranger will chime in and tell you that at 14yrs old, a larger, more "manly" machine will be to much for you, and could roll over you causing bodily injury and/or death. He will state that the smaller more agile atvs are the better of the two, and that the larger, 4x4 heavier machines are pointless, and dangerous in off camber situations.
Get the Arctic Cat. There are to many advantages to it such as diff lock, speed racks, ground clearance, 2" reciever, 10" of 4 wheel IRS and IFS travel, ect.... Look at my pics

For lots of mud the AC 500 5 speed is darned tuff to beat for both reliability and performance. These are very popular with mudders and lots of aftermarket support is available. So if Mom can afford the 500 Foreman and 400AC, you should be able to find some way to bribe the AC dealer to slip in an AC 500 5 speed instead for a little under the table help if you get my drift.
In fact, I would have been the happy owner of an AC 500 5 speed for rough western mountain terrain if Yamaha had been a couple weeks later with the 700 Griz news release in July 2006.
