Thanks MadRebel. i saw that hop up but i only saw it for a 06 and older recon. so i guess i will have to wait for the 07 one to come out. I think i will try the RTV Like toml85 said.

And Reconranger. i want to get the stock size just for the rear. i was looking at the kenda bear claws but they look heavy. and i read that the swamplites wear out fast.

Do you have any opinions on what tires to use? the stock ones are fine but i want more traction.

My 2005 OEM Honda Recon service manual does not include cleaning the centrifugal filter nor the screen filter in the maintenance schedule. I know it is in the owners manual maintenance schedule. Cleaning the centrifugal filter does not look difficult. Acording to the diagrams in the service manual, cleaning the screen requires splitting the crankcase.

To find replacement tires (other than OEM) you will probably have to go with either taller or wider tires than the stock size. The only 22 X 10 X 9 tire ( non OEM) I have found is a snow specific tire.

I have not done any performance modifications, so I can't comment on them.

I would recomend skid plates ( including replacing the OEM rear skid plate). I do not ride in very rocky areas, but I do have a lot of deep sctratches in my skid plates.

An hour meter will help you with performing scheduled maintenance.

Because the recon is very fuel efficent, I always use fuel stabilzer.

Thanks guys..

I have another question though. today when i was using my atv.. i felt like if the gear "slipped" or something. when i was in first gear sometimes i would "punch" the throttle and my recon would want to wheelie.. sometimes it would just accelarate then suddenly shift into gear as if i was "popping the clutch" the problem is my Recon doesnt have a clutch and i wasnt moving the lever. can anybody help me out? do you guys think its the tranny?

Also i have noticed that my front brakes dont "grab" as good as they usually do know they take a long time to stop and the lever is really soft unlike the rear brake one.

Thanks,

07recon

Do the clutch adjustment procedure. It is in your owner's manual!

The clutch adjustment should correct your shifting problem. If not, did you use a JASO MA rated oil when you changed your engine oil? If you used an "energy conserving car oil", the centrifugal clutch will have to spin to higher than normal RPM before it will engage.

When my recon front brakes faded, I adjusted them. That worked for a short time. Then I cleaned them. That worked for a short time. I finally flushed the brake fluid. That corrected the brake problems. I had more than 100 hrs on mine before I needed to do this. Along with cleaning and adjustement , bleeding the brake fluid of air was probably the fix.
