Most of the time, tepending on the temp. you have to get it warmed up, if you have it sitting in for an hour or so, the engine would cool down. If it gets started, automaticly start riding, rev'ing it wont warm it up.
If it wont completly start up, try holding the clutch and get a person to push you off of a pretty strong hill with you on it, then start it. That is what you'd do if your battery was wasted.
Another thing, it might have bad gas. I know, it sucks when you get a gallon of gas and you get bad gas. A quad shouldnt run with bad/old gas, go back and get some fresh gas and see how that works.
Try some of these, and get back to me. I've had a 300 for a year and a half now and I've had the same problems, I've tried all of the above and it worked for me.

If it won't run without the choke, that means it is getting to much air compared to the amount of fuel it has.
Could be that the slow (idle/pilot) jet is clogged, which would require a carb cleaning and readjustment of the fuel screw.
Or, it could mean a leak in the intake boot. Take off your air filter, and hold your hand over the opening and crank the engine (with the kill switch on). It shoud form a vacume, and it should last a while.
If new gas fixed it, maybe you got lucky....
