450r problem

Default 450r problem

ive got a 450r which sat in my building for 10 months with out being started. when i tryed running it the other day it would sputter real bad when i shot the gas. i tryed the spark plug and drained the gas and put new in, im thinking it might be the cdi box. any ideas or suggestions?

I would try cleaning the carb, check for a clogged petcock and definately drain out the old gas and put new in.

This is very common with machines that sit and modern fuel formulations! Fuel dries up in the carb and leaves behind a scum that cloggs the jets, particularly the slow (idle/pilot) jet. Dump the old fuel out of the tank and replace it with fresh, and clean the carb paying particular attention to the slow jet. Readjust the fuel screw when you reinstall the carb......

i cleaned all the jets, and drained all the gas, and put in some lucas fuel carb cleaner, and still the same

with some engines (especially 2-stroke) to keep them from getting hard to start u have to start them up now and then until they are up to running temp or so i have heard

Did you service the air filter before firing it up? If you haven't done so, now is the time to take a look. You could even have a mouse nest in there!!

yea ive cleaned and oiled the filter
