I picked up a used 400ex in decent shape the other day, couldnt take it for a ride at the guys house in the burbs tho.

Rode it around on some local trails with my friends and I noticed that its incredibly hard to steer it. Gave it to my friends to try and they agreed.

Moving or stopped its very hard to turn the bars, and it makes this squealing noise where the handlebars connect to the shaft. Also it seems to be slightly rubbing the plastics by the handlebars. I think the steering shaft is bent-would this be possibly correct?

 

most likely . the bearings are probbaly shot too

 

check the rubber bushing just under the plastic it has 2 bolts that hold it in place

 

Checked it and greased it, everything is good now.
