Default TRX 420 larger wheels?

Hello, I've been qauding with my 07 trx 420 for about a year now, i even take her out in the winter from time to time. I really like this quad, but as I'm sure most of you know Honda does no offer IRS for most of their ATVs, I was looking at putting on larger tires on my rear axle to help out with ground clearnace.

The rear stock tires are 24x10 - 11, I'll be putting Mudlite XXLs on them for the winter

I was wondering if anyone has done this before, and if there is any advice on this subject?

Thanks in advance

My Name's Nate

i put 25 kenda bear claws on my 420 fe, steered like crap, but soon as i got the recall replacement parts, its handling like a bat out of hell. 25,s as big as i would go, you wont see any power loss, give you half inch more ground clearence.

ITP Holeshot ATR's are superb snow tires, on IPT 12X7" rims!

I have run the 26" in the past, but I much prefer the 25", because you lose less low end power. Don't worry so much about ground clearance, these tires float you along on top....

That said, any big tires are going to mess up this machine's sweet agile handling! It's the price you have to pay, so you need to decide if it is worth the tradeoff. For me, I run the ATR's only when I know I will be riding in snow, otherwise I stick with the stock tires.

Wait....I just noticed that you said BACK tires. If it is a 4wd, you can't change the back without also changing the fronts....they have to all be the same size!

nah it's all good, when i went to get them, the dealership had a rancher with the exact wheels I was thinking (the rimes were about $20 more per tire than the ones I wanted, but the extra bling's fine), So I took their quad out for a test to make sure she runs ok, and she did, so i got those tires, I will post back after I try them out in a few weeks

Thanks again,

oh just so I don't wonder, why can't you change the wheel size for the back but leave the front as is?

All 4 wheels have to sinc up with each other, and if they are different sizes (different effective gear ratios), they can't do that.
