I'm almost done rebuilding it, but have run into an issue. My brakes, front and rear are locked up and I can't even get them apart to rebuild them. On top of that I can't find any used stock ones that aren't in the same condition as mine. Does anybody know if there are aftermarket calipers that will be direct bolt on to the stock mounts? Or does anybody knows where I could get a working set?

Also good or bad idea to drill holes on the side of the airbox that is away from the exhaust for better airflow?

Is an aftermarket exhaust worth it if I don't care about how loud my bike is? Does it really add much power?

elite performance ATv should be able to help you out on the brakes.. 300ex parts interchange... I have a 250x I am getting ready to disassemble .. Using the front end and brakes for my sons ATv though.. But I have everything else incase you need anything chep let me know.

As for teh exhaust I was told it make a big difference.. they recommended the Big Gun exhuast for me.. Just make sure you do the entire pipe and not justa slip on muffler. As for the airbox lid the top of my was cut open and it helped quite a bit.

 

I scored some from ebay the front calapers are the same on the 250x 300ex 400ex yahama blaster ,banchee,raptor do like i did and find a good pair be shure to read the condition of them before you bid......and there are a few dealers on ebay that sell new calapers for 99.99 a pair

I have a set i won on ebay a while back i bid and won 2 auctions so i wound up with extras they are supposed to be in good condition and look fine ...and the pads have life left in them I think they were from a 98 model 300ex i will sell them for $40.00 + S&H thats what i paid I also have some front spindels with good berrings in them

 

I have a extra pair of front calapers i won on ebay ,they look good and the seller ensured me they were working .. I won 2 sets by accedent i used one set and they work great ...the pads on the extra set have some life left in them I will let u get them for 40.00 plus shipping PM me if ur interested

mailed ya sorry no pics ..my cammera is dead ..ill re email you or post pics here when my camera gets charged up...Iwas jjuist reading the airbox thing ..Juist try to run it with the airbox lid off ...that should get you plenty of air but still keep dirt from being thrown on the filter....If it dosnt run good with the airbox lid off youll probly need to jet the carb.....as far as pipes most racers will recomend a FMF or Whitebrothers exaust there nice but pricey I have a DG on my 300ex and a cobra on my 250x the dg is deffentally nicer than the cobra the paint on my cobra heeder pealed off in a week or so and is now rusty mt dg is stanless and looks great
