Default 400EX oil filter cover bolt broke

Just this evening I was changing oil in my 400EX and one of the bolts broke off that goes in my oil filter cover, it broke when I was removing it, now only part of the bolt came out, and the rest of it is still in the side of the engine. Do you think that one bolt will be enough to hold it?

I dont think I can drill it out, thanks and please help.

try an easy-out but be careful not to break that off in there.

try a little heat on it , c if u can get a HARD punch & sharpen it to a point & take a hammer and try to peck it loose -easy outs is another way , but they break & u cant drill thru them ( im a toolmaker and have to remove alot of broke bolts everyday) if u want to try it with 1 bolt throw the blue glue to it and it may hold

well i'm going to have to disagree.... you can drill through the bolts...b/c i have....
the problem will come whether or not it cross threaded when you were backing it out.

i'm going to assume that it did and you if felt the bolt getting harder to back out maybe a couple squeaks and then it twisted real smooth and broke....

you are not going to be able to knock it and with it being that tight an easy out won't pull it either....
I snapped a valve cover bolt....twice....
it can be drilled.... i wasn't able to get the threads clean... had to heli coil it...

thats a 6mm bolt , if u drill uwill need to use bout a 5/32 drill or smaller so hopefully wont hit the threads , when u go back together with it u may want to put some anti-sieze on ur bolts

Which bolt broke ..?.. The short rear bolt or the long front bolt.. If it was the long bolt the clutch cover will have to be removed to fix it ...

Your going to have to remove the clutch cover ... The long bolt doubles as and oil filter bolt & a clutch cover bolt ..

The guys at the Honda shop did that to my 450. They were prepping my ride for a race and they called me to tell me they broke the bolt. The long one, They were able to remove it without removing the clutch cover. Are the 2 models that different when it comes to that?
