250x First Gear, Neutral shifting
Ok, with this Honda being new to me I didn't originally know there was a low gear (1st) below Neutral. I guess I've just always been starting out in second, which is fine, but I like having that low gear for creeping through the woods. The problem is, I'm not exactly sure how I have been getting in and out of that first gear. If the quad is sitting still, not running, pushing down the shifter only gets it in neutral and not 1st. Pulling up goes into 2nd. No problem. But when running, down gets it into that low 1st gear, but pulling up doesn't always get it back to neutral. Does the quad have to be rolling to come back up into neutral? After rocking it back and forth a bit I can get it to come back up to neutral but if everything is just sitting still it doesn't want to. I don't know if this is normal or if there's something wrong with the transmission. Other than that, there are no other issues at all with shifting through the gears and like I said, I've only recently discovered I even had the lower gear.

Sounds pretty normal to me. My 87 250X is tricky to find neutral, running or not. If not running, then yes, I also sometimes have to move the quad forward or back a little. It is in there, but lift too hard and it goes to second. I do find that it is much easier to find N from 1st than it is to find it from second.
