I just picked up the left over black 08. I didn't buy any accessories since I figured I could buy aftermarket cheaper.

My first project is to set up a winch on it.
These winch mounts that are out there. Which in your opinion would be the easiest to install without cutting anything?

This isn't something that is gonna get a ton of use so I don't need the best out there. Just something that will bolt right up so I can mount a winch.

for the rancher 420's any winch will need some trimming, or modification of the front plastics. the winch plate and winch will mount behind the front plastics, inside the frame. if you want to have the roller flairhead, you have to trim the plastic. if you dont want to put on the flairhead, you could probly not have to trim any of the front plastic.

the flairhead just keeps the cable directly in front of the winch when you use it.
i would reconend just trimming a bit of the plastic and using the flairhead. if you dont put the flairhead on the cable will eat away the plastic anyway

 

I put a Warn mount on the Foreman, but when it came time to do the Rincon, I went with a KFI mount plate after reading positive reviews on line.

It seems to be very high quality, and was significantly cheaper...

 

as far as the winch I wouldn't try to save pennies and get a chinese, I bought a gorilla (E-Bay), I've replaced parts on it 3 times, and replaced the winch once, the only thing I can say good is that their service tech are real nice, and they sent me all the stuff for free

I'm with Jeffin on the KFI mount plate, I would have gotten one of those, but mine came with the plate

Thanks guys. I got onto KFI's site and I think I'm gonna order the mount plate and KFI 2k winch for $145. Doesn't seem like a bad deal.
If I was gonna be using this thing all the time then I would get the better winch.
I'll end up putting a plow on it to but won't really use it all that much.
Most of my plowing in the winter is done with the truck.

 

I don't know anyone who has a KFI winch... Let us know how the winch holds up.
