i guess the clutch is sticking ...probally from sitting up..I think if you get it running it will freeup ....shift real easy till you get the clutch working so you dont kill the trans.. my 300ex sat up for a while and the clutch was grabby when pulled in ..but it cleard up quickly

yes real easy ,you can no cluth shift with out hurting it if you learn the shift points or juist go real easy ...and it will most likley free up ..if not youll juist have to go in and investagate..
( if your real concerned about the clutch go in now ,and seperate all the clutch pads and plates clean them and put them back in,you will need a couple of specialty tools from honda....)..
.
I bought my 300ex last year and it had sat up in someones garage..i fired it up,and shifted to first with the clutch pulled in ,it went foward so I rode it around a while playing with the clutch ...and the problem got better the first day ...and by the second weekend had cleared up all toghether

the stator plug may be different...do a parts lookup on both models and compare the stator(generator) plugs ,as well as the cdi and other connections
