Default 2000 Rancher ES

A co-worker brought me his 2000 TRX350TEY Racher ES for me to try to repair. His problem is the 4 wheeler startes to cut back when it gets hot. He can run it when it is cold outside with no problem. He thinks it starts to acting up when the cooling fan should start running. I think I have found the oil temp sensor unit on the front bottom of the motor, but I thought it would have 2 wires attached to it, and I see three wires. Does any one have a picture of the oil temp sensor unit and the fan control units location, or a wiring diagram? Any assistance on this would problem would help me out alot, and thanks for your time.

Ron

The oil sending unit is on the left side of the engine, towards the back. It has one wire going to it. The 3 wire unit you are looking at is the shift angle sender. Also the fan control unit is built into the CDI. It is located behind the right front inner fender well. Sorry I don't have pictures. My manual on that unit is in paper form

Just becasue the fan doesn't come on, I wouldn't take that as being diagnostic of anything. These fans rarely come on, even in warm weather. One of the common questions in here from new owners, is that they are suspicious that their fans don't work. I have to really push mine in hot weather, to ever have the fan come on.

Cold air is more dense than warm, so that affects the air/fuel ratio. I would wonder if he is having some carb or air intake problems, and the air temp changes are just making it more obvious?????

I have not drove it yet to see what it does when it gets hot or to operating temp. I grounded out the oil temp sensor and the fan does come on. Scott (the owner) said that the fan came on when it had been driven for a while, but now it does not. If that is not the problem wonder what else could it be?
Thanks for the help everyone has given.

I sent the wiring section and the switches section ..

The switches section explaines testing the fan , if the fan starts when the thermosensor wire is grounded then that narrows the problem down to the thermosensor .. But like reconranger said the fan seldom comes on even in the summer ..
