Default 07 ES Rancher chugs during take off

When I try to take off in 2 or 3th gear it chugs like it doesn't have gas.
If I shift to neutral and rev the engine it sounds fine. Then I shift back to 2nd and no problem taking off or riding. About 100 hours on it. Any clue?

What happens if you take off in 1st???

2nd gear takeoffs are ok on level ground, but 3rd gear, no way. If you have been doing 3rd all along, I am not one bit surprised that your clutch is now toast.

Have you done a clutch adjustment lately????

Could be that your ES isn't putting it into gear properly?

No clutch adjustment done yet. I didn't see it listed on the scheduled maintenance chart.
I assume it's in my manual.

I'll look.

It's there in the maintenance schedule, under "Clutch System"......

I had both my 07 Ranchers out this weekend and the "chugging" happens on one.
I don't believe it has anything to do with clutch or starting in second gear.
Always have started in second unless I was pointing up hill.

If I start downhill, it chugs. Shift to neutral and back to second, no problem. Takes off fine.

Maybe an issue with position sensor? Dashboard nevers shows any "-" , always shows gear.

Maybe just another case of a faulty ES system????

Do not set off in any gears but 1st or reverse. Honestly, why do you think you have to put it in first before you change up into second?
