Default 2004 TRX300EX quits running after about 10 minutes

Hi, my GF's son has a 2004 TRX300EX. Lately its not been running very good. It idles kind of rough and will die while riding it after about 10 minutes of riding. It won't immediately start up. After it cools down a little it will start up and the cycle starts over. To me it sounds like something electrical is getting hot and shutting down the engine but I'm not very familiar with ATV's at all.

It has a new spark plug, air filter, and battery. Oil and filter were recently changed. I checked the screen at the bottom of the fuel shut off valve and it was clean. Everyone said it was bad gas so I emptied the tank, drained the float bowl and ran the four wheeler until it quit. I put fresh gas in it and it took it awhile to start. After it started, her son rode it for about 10 minutes until it died. When it dies, it will sputter a couple times and then die like you shut the key off. This was the same symptoms before the fuel change.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm not familiar with your machine, here is a post that will give you an idea where to start looking.

I haven't forwarded a post before, but if it doesn't work, search "engine stalls" and you can find it in the results there.
Good Luck

most likly you have trash somewhere between the gas tank and carb, probably in the carb. take it apart, clean it with brake/parts cleaner then put it back together like it came apart
