Rancher 350 TE clutch adjustment.
#1
Hello,
Could someone run through the clutch adjustment procedure? I bought my Rancher second hand, and I do not have the owners' manual. It shifts and runs great, but I want to make sure everything is adjusted properly.
I am somewhat mechanically inclined, so taking things apart doesn't scare me.
Thanks.

I can't count the number of times over the years that I have had to go over this procedure for someone who doesn't have an owner's manual! Think about it...if the previous owner of your used machine didn't even know where the manual is, you think he ever did even one bit of maintenance on it???? Luckily, Honda builds a great machine, that can withstand a lot of neglect! (Look up in the top of the trunk or up under the seat. Manual might still be in there????)
Find the adjustment screw/locknut on the front of the engine. You should see arrows above it that say "increase/decrease". With the engine COLD, loosen the lock nut and turn the screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE until you feel slight resistance. Then back it out 1/4 turn CLOCKWISE, and hold the screw while you retighten the nut.
What about valve adjustment....done that????

reconranger,
Thanks for the reply.
I haven't done the valves yet, but that is on the list.
I got this ATV in pretty poor shape - I've replaced every piece of plastic on it, and just about every bearing outside the engine (the LR wheel bearing had three - yes, three - ***** left in it!!!).
I can't find the manual, the ATV actually didn't have a trunk when I got it... and I've looked everywhere I can think of. It's definitely been neglected... but it's a Honda, so it still runs well. Just pretty sad looking (for now).
But fortunately, it fires right up every time, and runs pretty well. I suspect it's been sunk and then not properly drained. All of the electronics work (for now), so that was good.
Now it's all cleaned up, and running well, with new plastic - and I'll try the clutch adjustment tonight. I haven't had any problems shifting, and I don't think there is anything wrong with the clutch - just want to make sure everything is adjusted properly.
Thanks again for the help.
