Default 400EX oil

What is the oil weight that is recommended by Honda for the 400EX?

Sorry I don't have an owners manual.

Thanks,

Tom

10W40 makes a good summer oil in most of the country. For mild weather, 10W30.

For very cold winter weather 5W30, and if you ride in extreme heat then 15W50.

I highly recommend an ester synthetic oil, like Maxima Extra!

What part of the country you in????

I'd run thicker oil in your climate. 15w50 Mobil One, probably.

I use Mobil 1 in every car, ATV, dirt bike, street bike, and drag car I have or had. It's excellent stuff. I have not found anything better.

I too am in the hot southwest, but I don't ride during the heat of midday. Plus, we mostly ride the mountains anyway, where it is cooler than the valleys....so I run Redline 10W40.

If you do ride in the heat of the day, I would run Maxima Extra 15W50.

I don't anticipate riding in the scorching heat too often, I'll go with 10W40.

Welcome to the forums Jason.
This thread is 3 years old.
I'm sure the 400 is still running good on car oil...LOL
And the difference would be?
