Default Is this Honda 300ex any good?

Hey I'm thinkng of buying a used Honda 300 ex. The guy said he rolled it once and cracked the front left plastc slightly. On the back right side he said he put a after market exhaust and it rubbed agianst the plastic and burnt a hold thru.It has astermarket Handel bars and tires. It's an 2004. Is 1500 a good price. Thanks

aftermarket exhausts will almost always burn a hole right by the seat unless you put extra heat sheild material on the fender, I did that with my son's 300ex, and never had a problem. If it has been rolled, make sure the handlebars are straight, make sure he didn't tweak a rim or bend the axle, the stocker will bend, my son jumped a little crooked while racing, and now the back left wheel wobbles from a bent axle. Find out how many hours on the motor, if he changed oil regularly, and kept the air filter clean. Make sure he rejetted for the new exhaust, running lean can hurt the motor, even if it seems to run good without rejetting,it gets a lot hotter. If the rollover was a one time thing, and the guy didn't beat the hell out of it, 1500 for a 2004 is pretty good, you can find new plastic on ebay, just listen to it run, make sure it idles smooth, makes no funny noises, and shifts and rolls smooth.

iwouldn't worry to much about the plastic, that stuff gets damaged fairly easily anyway. i agree with 95wolv, look for the stem, bars, axle, etc to be bent. Check the wheel and axle bearings for play, as well as the a-arm, swingarm, and shocks for play. BTW, most of that type of thing is within the backyard mechanics ability to fix.
