Foreman 500 won't move - help
#1
My brother-in-law has a 2005 foreman 500 that won't move. A little history: A while back he was riding it when he says it died on him and wouldn't crank. It turns out the timing chain broke somehow. We just replaced the timing chain but not after shifting into gear it won't move. The strangest part is when you shift into gear the fourwheeler jolts forward letting you know there is power going to the wheels but when you press the gas nothing happens. It is a footshift and it does this in every gear. Anyone have a clue what could be going on? Thanks in advance.

it revs and sounds great, but it acts like it is in neutral. I even tried pressing the gas as I changed gears since it jolts forward when I change gears...but no luck. It still acts like it is in neutral.

Sounds like a clutch problem. You might want to take the cover off and have a look. Just because it lurches a little when you put it in gear doesn't mean the clutch is good. Or something broke when the timing chain locked up the motor.

Almost certain to be a clutch, there are two, a centrifugal, lawnmower style and a normal motorcycle multiplate. The centrifugal works fine until the shoes wear down to the metal backing, so obvious by looking at it if it is shot. The multiplate can glaze and slip or could be worn out, you need a workshop manual to tell you how thick the plates should be and if the springs are weak.
