Ah Yes,
owned a few cold blooded ''various brand'' ATV's in my 52 years of life too.

I switched over to EFI on my last two model ATVs and will never go back to baby sitting a choke on any of my future ATVs again.

The first ATV was made in 1983. I don.t care how cold it gets and I use my ATV to ice fish. I pull the choke its starts up and I close the choke after 30 seconds and I can go back inside and have a coffee until the motor warms up. EFI needs or should have a warm up peroid also they do not warm up ice cold motor oil any faster than a carb.

A carb has one nice feature: With choke full on, it will start in half a turn. No EFI motor I own is that good.

The downsides: poor drivability when cold (whether advisable or not), propensity to flood when you least expect it and easy jet clogging with un-stabilized fuel.

I would rather have EFI on my Recon but can live without it. My next ATV will have EFI.

I have a 1985 honda 250 ,it was my friends and it sat out with no cover for 3 years. He gave it to me ,and i put in a new battery and cleaned the carb and it started on the first kick. No problems since.
