Default Buying new Honda

I'm going to buying a new Honda this summer, and need to know. Do ATV dealers work like car dealerships where you make an offer, and negotiate the price? Or is it like buying groceries where you just pick one out and pay the price?

Never did this before and don't want embarrass myself. Thanks.

I will say that a lot depends on the dealer. We have a local Honda dealer that sells just Honda motorcycles and atvs but is also a dealer of Exmark mowers and other outdoor equipment.
Depending on their mood, they will take an offer. Cash in hand goes a long way with them also.

Consider also that a large dealer will often offer good prices on atvs and motorcycles, more so than a small dealer.

I believe that you will get a better deal if you have cash or financing already in place when you make an offer. If they don't accept a reasonable offer, go elsewhere.

My nephew is a salesman for ATV's, bikes, snowmobiles, etc. He says that the best thing a customer can do is offer about 10% below the asking price and specify (and this is key) "out the door". He says that there are so many crap things that are added that it sickens him. Dock fee, Delivery fee, Tax, Warranty fee, etc. So, try his suggestion.

Good luck trying to negotiate this summer. Friend tried to buy a new Honda and found that Honda has reduced inventory so thin that there weren't any new ATV's in the specific model and color choice anywhere in our state. Found one in a neighboring state and the dealer wanted full retail plus all kinds of add on fees and refused to negotiate.

Just be cool about it, and realize that there isn't as much mark up on ATV's as people would think.

I generally cruise atvtrader and the like, and there's a dealer down in Ten, I think, that posts some impressively low prices.

Then I go to the local dealer and ask him about price, and if he can meet whatever the lowest price I found was.

I'd even be willing to pay a little more to support the local, family owned business, but I can't afford to spend hundreds more.
