2011 rubicons D1 and D2 removed...
#1
OK just got back from the dealer and finding out that he's out of 09/10 Rubicons. He will be getting 2011's around the time I'm going to pull the trigger.
We were talking about the transmission settings and operation; Drive, Low, D1 and D2, and which to use for what situation. Well he told me that on the new 2011 models that D1 and D2 are completely removed, what you will have is on the handlebar a yellow switch for Auto and ESP, the shifter will still be "Reverse Neutral Drive and Low (of course)
"
Has anyone else heard this, this also makes me wonder if they are going to re-tune the Low Range since D2 is gone.
If this is old news I'M sorry, but worst case scenario I'm pointing this out to other people who didn't know.

Low range has always defaulted to D2, I would have prefered low range defaulting to D1..
I use D2 all the time for cruising, the RPMs are lower in D2 than D1.
The Rancher AT just has a yellow switch for either ESP or auto.
I'm starting to think my next ATV will be a low mileage 04.

I wonder if they dropped D1 or D2 or came up with a compromise between the two.
I never understood the confusion between the two; I always felt it was quite apparent.

wow, that sucks- i really love my D-2 for hunting and casual cruseing on flat ground as its super quiet down the trails, it really dropps the rpm but i understand why they took it out as it can cause the clutch to slip if used in steep terrain.
