91 trx 350d carb problems????
ok so i pulled off the carb again and took a good look at it. I found a small hole in the start jet tube??? does anyone know if it's supposed to be there? almost looks like one of those holes that has a small ball bearing in it. but this one is missing the ball bearing... any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to all.

Not sure what you have? Honda didnt make an 1991 350d, the only four wheeler they made in 1991 was an 300. 1987,1988,1989 was the years for the 350d. if you could confirm your year and model you have i will try to help..its make an differance cause these 2 model has differance carb. and fuel systems,Thanks.

thanks for the interest i appreciate it. Well let me try to explain myself a litte better for you. The tube on the carb that has a rubber plug in it, it is the tube that has a start jet in it. this tube has a small hole in the base of it, it's small and round like one of the other holes around the carb that have little ball bearing plugs in them. but this hole does not. it does'nt make sense to me to have that tube with a start jet in the side and a rubber plug in the end and yet have a hole in the base of it? The reason i ask is that this quad runs really rich, all threw the power band including idle. it fouls the plugs really bad and burns black smoke all the time and stalls when it hot. All fuel and spark is good and compression is about 110psi. any thoughts?

Okay now!Its hard to drill hole at 90 degress or so, this rubber plug is to direct fuel into the side,,, sounds like your problem on this quad is that the needle jet is worn out, you can install an repair kit or you could try lowering the needle jet [long brass needle inside of the slide] by moving the e-clip upward, std.setting is in 3 groove from top.so i would put e-clip in the top groove and try it. also check the condition of the needle jet for wear groove around it, most the time this type wear markings is from an bad or dirty air filter, to get the slide out you will have to remove the triangle cover on top of carb. and the machanical lift arm has an screw in the side of it removed it then down inside of the slide are two small screw that attaches the arm to slide remove them, than pull the slide out of carb. an adjust the e-clip in the top groove and install in reverse order. This will cause the needle jet to go further down into the jet holder and make an leaner mixture, you may have to re-adj. the mixture screw to get an better ilde. Good Luck....
