You may need to take the plastic off to gain access I can't remember anyhoo do what you said then take the air filter box to carb. boot off, unhook the throttle cable, loosen the intake clamp and pull the carb. out the boot and remove from bike. Then flip the carb. upside down unscrew the screws holding the bowl on ( I found that tapping the screwdriver lightly with a hammer will seat the screwdriver into the screws better and make them easy to remove cause the head will strip out if the wrong size screwdriver is used. Take the bowl off and clean the bowl real good. In the center of the carb. there will be a plastic thing take that out and there will be a brass jet remove it and clean real good make sure u see daylight through it. Just in front of the center hole will be another hole with another jet do the same thing. Then there will be a small rod connecting the float to the carb. gently push it out of one side and remove the float and the needle valve will be connected it will come out also spray cleaner all in the hole to clear that out. Then just spray all over to clean everything and pay attention to the little passages spray them good blow them out along with the jets and reassemble. It sounds complicated but once u do it once it'll be easy. P.s. don't worry about the piston vacuum on the top just what is around the bowl.

Yes but step 3 is for a different type of carb, than you have , so just omit that step. you will need to take a plastic cap type thing off the side of the carb. and unhook the throttle cable

Motorcycle Repair Course Try looking through this good learning material. Yeah it's for motorcycles but the general idea is the same for all these type engines.
