Default 2003 rancher es starting problems, help!

hello
my 03 rancher es not starting good at all. i checked spark, its fine. cleaned plug. seems like not getting enough fuel. is there a fuel filter? after she does start it doesnt want to idle and will die sometimes, but after a while of running it does better. it has 1700 miles on it and this is the first glitch since ownership. any ideas? thanks for looking

Has the atv sat for an extended period of time? If so, the carb may be gummed up and will need to be cleaned. Happened to me one time.

There is also a fuel screen that you access by removing the petcock from the tank.

Have you checked the air filter and the intake tubes leading to the airbox.

I think i have a fuel problem on my honda 2002 fourtrax 350 atv.It stalled and almost died out when i was riding.I checked the spark plug and it looked like it flooded.I installed a new one.I pumped some fuel and pulled the starter rope, but nothing happed not even combustion.Even i checked the spark and it was blue colour.Remeber it wanted to stall but continued running but finally stalled. What do you think happened. Thanks Palaswan

When you crank it with the spark plug out, plugged in, and resting on something metal do you have spark?

If so I'd suspect you have something clogged, or adjusted wrong in the carb. If it has one of the primer *****, the little rubber diaphragm in there can also crack, letting gas leak into the bowl and throat of the carb (causing flooding). Also check the vent lines on the carb.
