im going to buy a new pipe in the rebuild. what pipe gives the best high end? im using a FMF power core 2
also i drained the oil from the engine today and it was GREY. some how i doubt they sell grey gear oil. so my guess is water is entering the engine. can it only enter threw the water pump area? or is there other areas? i want to run the bottom end this year and then send it out for a rebuild next winter.
thanks

Some of the bearings/seals on the water pump require special tools. If you need to replace anything other than the gasket, you may want to just have your local Honda dealer do it.
But, like I said, you just changed the oil and really don't know how the quad was treated before you got it. If you put fresh oil in it and ride it awhile you can see if you're getting water in the oil, but then it would be getting hot also.
Are you just wanting to "rebuild" the motor?

i was hoping to rebuild the lower end next winter. i was going to do a compression check on the top end when the bike gets back together. but from taking it down the road it still seems to have good power.
im replacing all bushings and bearings ETC on the rolling chassis and its adding up fast so i was hoping to wait on the lower end. still havnt got my frame back from the blasters yet. so progress is slowing down.
