Default Good Rack Idea

Some cargo bags sag between the bars of racks. What I did was lay a slightly oversized piece of ¼” plywood on my rack and then traced the outline of the rack from underneath. Then I cut the plywood where I traced it with a jig saw. Then I laid it on the rack and strategically placed and glued and air nailed with small finish nails, small blocks of wood ¾” thick and maybe 1" x 3". This was a little tricky. I put glue on the block, then reached under the plywood and pressed the block against the plwood and into a corner of the rack bars. (I cut a small 45 degree in one corner of the block so it would clear the welds in the corners of the rack bars.) Then I nailed it with an air nailer through the top and into the block. Be sure to use nails that don't go thru or you will nail a finger as you are holding the block. So, these blocks hold the plywood from shifting around and I used 4 blocks. Try to place them as far apart as possible. Then I took the wood platform off, turned it upside down on the floor and hammered the blocks with a hammer just to make sure they were tight against the plywood. I put it back on the rack and put my bag on the wood and marked where the hold down straps met the plywood and cut notches in the plywood so the bag straps would go around the rack bars. Then I strapped it down. It works fantastic. No more sag. I just set the plywood on the rack and push it down and it locks in place. This is the second one I've done this way because it works so well.

Good start there, budedm.
Been trying to figure some type of material to do the same thing. My bag has rubbed the finish off the battery access panel on my 420. Have considered adding another bar, but then, "how do I get the battery out".
Only problem I see with ply wood is water!
Would like to see pics.
Good Job on another Honda problem.
