Default 04 Rubicon question, oil temp light won't turn on

Hi,

Just got an 04 Ruby and I have noticed the fan coming on. No overheat or anything yet. So looking into it a bit I noticed that the oil/temp light does not turn on when the key is in the on position. Not even for a few seconds. Anyone got one the garage they run out and test? I was pretty sure it would. So I am thinking the indicator does not work, if it doesn't the fan probably won't either. So

1. Should light turn with key on? Engine not running
2. If it should why wouldn't it

I cleaned sending unit and wire, tried to ground wire at sending unit to frame but nothing. Next I guess is to ground at thermo sensor at thermostat. I am wondering if the bulb in the unit is burnt or if something else controls the temp/oil light.

thanks

Sorry in above post I meant the fan never turns on.

Please can someone confirm the oil/temp light should turn for a few seconds when you put the key in the on position? Thanks

Yes...it should come on for a few seconds. Everything on the digital dash should come on for a few seconds after you turn the ignition key to the on position.

First thing I would check is the bulb itself.
