My 400ex is in the shop getting my 440 kit installed now. I got the 440 kit WB track cam, rev box, stronger springs, Full Gt thunder exhaust. I was told I am ok with the stock rockers and valves. Please help with some info. Thanks

you will be just fine with the stockers as long as you change your oil about every two rides. i change my valves with kibblewhite because they have swirls on the valves to mix the fuel and air better. i still have stock rockers not hard faced.

I made the mistake of not hard facing my rocker arms on my first 440 and payed the price within 1 month. I lost the entire 1 month old engine. I will NEVER build another engine without hard facing the rocker arms!

complete clutch, basket pressure plate and hub, fibers and steels cost around $800.00. just go to a 8-plate clutch and retain your basket, pressure plate and hub. i have a topic on here with the # for the fibers and steels. it's a little notchy in the begining until it's broke in.

i've been running my 440 with a web cam,for a year now.i've yet to have a single problem with it.you'll want to hard face your rockers if you run a full race cam though.it puts alot of stress on them, from having a more radical lift on the cam......hope this helps

What cam are you putting in? I think with a mild cam you should be ok, but if you put a race cam you definatly need to hard face them. It also said you were putting stiffer springs in proably need them, stiffer springs means more work for the cam and lifters.

With an aftermarket cam, it's a good idea to get the rockers hardend. I had a WB Cam and it did wear out a set of rockers. I've since switched to an XR400 cam and like it better. Plus, being a stock Honda part, it won't eat up the rockers.

The guy installing my kit said all I need is to get new oem rockers. He said they are hardfaced from honda. Just not weldhardfaced. He said the new cam will wear different from the stock and it would ruin the stocker but be ok on the new oem ones. Let me know what you guys think about that. Also will I have to replace these in the future maintenance wise. If so how often? Let me know what you guys think about what he said.
