Turn your idle mixture screw out 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
It is the knurled screw on the bottom of the float bowl.

You may also want to examine your exhaust and vaccumm lines for leaks, they can also cause a pop and crackle. I have rejetted mine and it still pops a little, even after I adjusted the mixture screw(but the adjustment did help, Im running mine 3 turns out). It crackled before I put on the new exhaust so I think mine is in a vaccumm line around the carb, I just havn't tracked it down yet.

I am pretty sure I located my idle mixture screw but it is in a location that I can't get at w/ a screw driver and my hands are to big to reach in and turn it w/ my hands....so....any advice?? I think I am looking at the right screw....

Reach in thru the left side with a bit from an offset screwdriver, that is, a small flat bladed bit, about 3/4" long. Alternately, you could cut the end off of an old screwdriver.
Do this when the engine is cold, so you don't get burned, and use an extension light to see how much you have turned it. It isn't easy, so be patient, take your time.
