It is all the rider.

I race +30B AMA MX (2 wheels) which is an open class. I constantly beat this guy I know to the first turn every race - I am on my KX250 and he is on the almighty CR500. Does this mean a KX250 is faster than a CR500? HELL NO - it isn't even close!!! I have ridden his CR 500 and it is SICK FAST! I just get out of the gate better and I am just a better rider.

I don't doubt that a 400EX (which I think is a great quad, BTW) has beaten a Raptor due to a non rider on the Raptor, but with equal riders I doubt that it could even begin to hang in a drag race.

 

Ugly...I've got a 99 400EX with a 440 12.1, ported, 450/451 grind cam, rev cdi box, modified air box, 16/38 gearing, DMC full exhaust, Klotz 113 octane. It does run good. Come on down to St. Joe this Saturday. There is always someone to race.

 

Man there is no way this weekend.I HAVE to work on my church.we are changing buildings and and we have alot of cleaning and work to do on saturday.And then sunday is church.One time though pudjumper I will get my cousin and his buddies and couple of my freinds and whoever you want to take and we will head down there.

He and about stock 400ex's being faster than other's.My cousin's freind has a 400ex with a STOCk motor.He has wheel spacers and ac pro pegs and skid plate.but wanyway his 400ex is Alot faster than my cousin's.My cousin's 400ex is bored,wiseco piston,valve job,uni filter and jetted and 1 tooth bigger counter shaft sprocket.with 20 inch holeshots.or has 18's for the track anyway.Barkum(the guys last name but that is what every body calls him)His 400 beats my cousin's by about 4 bikes.I know his bike is stock because when they raced his bike was only about 2 days old.

 

Well well well the Honda boy's are at it again. Bashing the Raptor, saying how fast their almighty 400ex's are. Sure go ahead dump an extra 2-3 grand in your bike and it will beat a stock Raptor no question's asked. But now when it come's to stock verses stock, you boy's( I use that term loosely) are just smokin way to much dope!!!! I have a Raptor and my friend has a 2001 Ex and it's not even funny how bad I smoke him. He use to smoke me when I had my Warrior and I could tell he liked doing it, but after I let him ride my Raptor he knew it was all over. He almost doesn't like to ride in a drag anymore. Also we have both been riding for over 10 year's, so we are exp. I also out weigh him by at least 50lbs. So you guy's bring your head's out of the clouds and stop dreaming. Also if you have a nonrider and there is a whole lot of them on Raptor's then yes a 400 will most likely beat it. See most people think they can handle it(Raptor) but it takes a while to get use to the power, They just go out and buy the biggest quad out and have no clue how to ride but think that they will ride great because they have the newest toy out, WRONG. These people need to learn how to ride then come out and play. PEACE

 

OK, here's an un-biased statement......I hate both the EX and the Raptor(they make most of their owners turn into a-holes). This winter on the lake my friend raced his stock EX against my other friend's raptor. The EX usually got the hole-shot, then the raptor caught up around 3rd, then crept by to the finish. The guy had his raptor a lot longer then my other friend had his EX, and both had studded tires. Seems to me the extra 220cc's shoulda smoked the EX, but it just barely beat it.

 

Like i said before i don't want to start anything but however these raptor guys just can't believe it. Anyhow the guy beat 'em and so did i. Also watched a raptor earlier that day jump and land and bent the axle. Not a good sign there. Also my buddy who beat these raptor guys rode one of theirs and he says the same thing that everyone says, it feels like your riding on stilts. You make a sharp turn and get all squarly. I'll stick with my mighty ex. I will be headin to st. joe sometime not sure when yet though. But I can't wait to see some of those mighty raptors.

 

You people are unbelievable. It just boggles my mind after riding both how you could compare the speed of the two...rediculous, some of you are almost as bad as polaris owners.

 

Have you rode this ex? I didn't think so. If you can read the title it says NEARLY stock.
