Default 2004 Sporttax250 Idle problem...

So this quad is in great shape just cleaned the carb and replaced the air filter, ever since i got it when you let go of the throttle it cuts off, i have to hold pressure to get the bike warmed up before riding, thought it was a simple adjustment, but when i let out the idle screw nothing happens, the bike just wont idle, starts up quick runs strong everything seems to be tip top just cant get the damn thing to idle any ideas from anyone, im taking this thing out in 2 weeks would like to get it idling correct..... thanks

You are adjusting the pilot screw under the front of the carb? Think of this as your mixture screw. Adjust this in & out until you get your fastest idle. There is also a screw on the side that adjusts the throttle stop. This simply adjusts the idle speed up or down. Adjust this when warm. Put it in gear and adjust this faster until the clutch just grabs, then back off about 100 RPM.

The mix screw is straight down on the bottom front of the carb. Very, very hard to get to because you'll burn your hand on the cylinder. I use a straight blade tip out of one of those 4 way screw drivers. Just the tip without the screwwdriver. And wear a glove.

I took my carb in to my buddys work and they have a hot dip carb cleaning machine! And that did the trick. My quad's carb was dirty from sitting. I did clean mine 2 times but it was hard getting that green stuff out.

Stabil and Seafoam in the gas will prevent that
